The Balmoral trails are the South Shuswap's go-to spot for anything from a quick forest stroll to a full-day ridge hike. Short loops near the parking lot suit families and dog walkers, while the climb to the Balmoral Bluffs rewards you with views across Blind Bay toward Mount Ida and Sorrento. Along the way, look for the system's landmark old-growth fir.
Trail at a glance
- Loops: 0.5–4 km round trip, easy to more difficult
- Longer traverses: White Lake (about 8 km one way) and Blind Bay Bluffs (about 6 km one way), plus a ridge link north to McArthur Heights
- Trailhead: about 9.3 km east of Sorrento, turn north on Balmoral Road and drive 1.5 km — the parking lot is on the right before the Alpen Paradies subdivision
Good to know
Once you head beyond the main loops you're on longer hiking routes, so bring water and be prepared. Bug spray is a good idea in early summer. The system is maintained by the Shuswap Trail Alliance.
Because this is a public trail network, there's no business to claim this listing — trail stewards can contact The Shuswap Loop to keep the details current.
